The Press Center of the Central Election Commission has held a briefing on the results of the Presidential elections in Uzbekistan. Chairman of the Central Election Commission Zayniddin Nizomkhodjayev reported on this.
“Voting for the election of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan ended today at 20.00 in all polling stations of the country. Voting continues at polling stations at the missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan in some European countries and the United States.
According to preliminary data, the voter turnout in the country so far is 16,036,914 people or 80.8%.
Tomorrow we will report on the number of our compatriots who voted abroad. Article 96 of the Election Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan stipulates that an election is valid if it is attended by at least 33% of voters. Therefore, according to the Election Code, the election of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan is recognized conducted and valid.
The counting of votes is underway at polling stations. The preliminary results of the Presidential elections in Uzbekistan will be announced at the press conference tomorrow, October 25, at 16:00”, the CEC Chairman said.
