34th Anniversary of Independence: The Spirit of the Nation and Its Rise on the Global Stage
15:52 / 2025-08-31

Uzbekistan has reached the 34th anniversary of its state independence. These years mark a period in which our people’s aspirations, national values, and great ambitions have been realized, and great achievements have been attained along the path of history.

Recently, I had the opportunity to take part in a long-term trip to China. Throughout the journey, alongside the longing for my homeland, my heart was also filled with deep pride and honor. This feeling can best be illustrated through a small episode.

In March 2022, when I traveled abroad for the first time and spoke with people of different nationalities, the question “Which country are you from?” was always asked. When I replied, “I am from Uzbekistan”, some understood, while others would ask again: “Are you from Pakistan?” At such moments, I tried to tell them about my homeland’s history, cultural heritage, and grand monuments. At that time, I felt a little disheartened that so many people were unaware of our country.

Three years later, during my recent trip to China, the situation was completely different. While visiting various tourist sites, I wore a T-shirt with our national flag on it and draped another flag over my shoulder. The most joyful part was that no one asked me, “Which flag is this?” On the contrary, many people whispered to one another with respect: “That is the flag of Uzbekistan!” That very moment filled my heart with boundless pride and honor.

Uzbekistan Opening to the World

In recent years, our country’s standing on the international stage has risen to a new level. Thanks to the initiatives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan is being recognized and respected as an open, peace-loving, and active state in foreign affairs.

Today, the voice of our nation resonates from the podiums of the UN General Assembly, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the CIS, and other major international forums. Initiatives in Central Asia concerning stability, transport and logistics routes, ecology and water resources, green energy, human rights, and youth policy are receiving broad support from the international community.

Focus on Youth – The Foundation of the Future

During the years of independence, great importance has been placed on the upbringing and education of the younger generation. Today, millions of young people have the opportunity to study at foreign universities, where they can master modern knowledge and technologies.

The principle “Youth are our future” is proving itself in practice. The Youth Parliament, the Agency for Youth Affairs, state grants, IT parks, and startup programs – all of these are opening vast opportunities for young people. In sports as well, our youth are winning world championships and proudly raising our flag high.

Uzbekistan’s New Face

Compared to 1991, today’s Uzbekistan is a modern, open, and rapidly developing state. Our country’s foreign trade volume has increased significantly, diplomatic relations have been established with more than 180 countries, and practical cooperation has been established with hundreds of international organizations.

Most importantly, our people have gained confidence in their own strength, pride, and firm faith in the future. Independence has granted us our national identity, the ability to think freely, and a sense of unity and dignity.

In Conclusion

Today, Uzbekistan is a state that relies on a young and strong generation, steadily rising in the international community.

Independence is the greatest blessing for us. Our flag must wave not only in our hands, but also high in our hearts. For the spirit of the nation is the greatest strength.
