A briefing was held at the Press Center of the 7th Samarkand District Commission for the Presidential Elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan, where information was provided on the voting process in the district.
– Today, from 8:00 a.m., voting began actively at 1112 polling stations organized on the 7th Samarkand electoral district territory, – Chairman of the 7th Samarkand District Election Commission H. Muhammadiyev noted. – The total number of voters in the district exceeds 2 million 94 thousand people. According to preliminary data, now about 706 thousand citizens took part in the voting, that is, 34 percent of the total number of voters.
According to the decision of the Central Election Commission, from June 28 to July 5 this year, about 92 thousand citizens who did not have the opportunity to visit the polling station on election day voted ahead of schedule. Currently, authorized representatives of political parties, observers from civil society institutions, media representatives, and international observers are closely monitoring the voting process at polling stations.
Almost 100 representatives from more than 15 international organizations and more than forty foreign countries who have arrived in Uzbekistan are following the voting process in Samarkand region. International observers also visited the district election commission, where they got acquainted with the working process.
