During the elections in Uzbekistan 56,8 percent of voters cast their votes

In his speech, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan M.Abdusalomov reported that at 6 am all the 9035 polling stations, including 44 polling stations at representations of our country in foreign countries opened in all constituencies for the election of deputies of the Legislative Chamber in accordance with the procedure established by the article 38 of the Law on elections to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The polling stations of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the first time established at the representative offices in Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Indonesia, Thailand and in some regions of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as in India.

Today, the Conference of the Ecological Movement for the nomination and election of 15 members of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, which brings together delegates from all regions of the country, will be held in accordance with the Law on elections to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Central Election Commission has already received the first information on the voting.

According to the Central Election Commission, 11, 8 million citizens voted so far of the total 20,789,572 registered voters. It makes 56, 8 percent of the total number of voters.

More than 33 percent of voters participated in the elections, so, according to the article 44 of the Law on elections to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, elections of deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Parliament is held.

The present parliamentary elections are being carried out in full compliance with national electoral legislation that meets all international standards and it fixed by democratic principles of transparency, openness and fairness.

According to the article 3 of the Law on elections to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, all citizens have equal suffrage. In accordance with the article 5 of the current Law voting is free and secret and control over the will of the citizens is not allowed.

More than 300 observers from almost 50 countries, representing Asia, Europe, Africa, the USA and 5 international organizations – including OSCE ODIHR, CIS Executive Committee, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, World Association of electoral bodies and Organization of the Islamic Cooperation controlling the election process. In addition, more than 35 thousand observers from political parties take part in the elections.

Besides, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, territorial election commissions accredited more than 340 local and foreign media, which are widely covering the elections.

By now, the chairman of the Central Election Commission did not receive any information on violations during the voting process.

He also said that the next briefing to inform the general public about the voting will take place at 5 pm.
