The COVID-19 pandemic has become a threat to people’s lives on a global level.
Such an emergency not only disrupts the usual course of society, but also changes people’s views and behavior.
Art always reflects reality. 16 artists of Uzbekistan were inspired by the work of the Centre for the Study of the Sciences and the Humanities of the University of Bergen (Norway), the scientists of which identified 16 types of personalities in response to the pandemic. This categorization allows to more accurately predict the development of the situation. Through artworks, the artists showed their vision of adaptation and people's attitude to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is what gave the name to the exhibition “16/19”. The works also express hope for a quick return to the usual life.
Everyone can see in “16/19” their emotions and feelings related to life during the pandemic.
The project is being implemented by Ilkhom Theater in cooperation with the Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health Service of Uzbekistan with the support of UNICEF.
The curators of the project are Shakhnoza Karimbabayeva, Natalia Lee and Irina Bharat.
