A meeting of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place. Participants discussed the process of preparation for the referendum, in particular, the formation of district commissions for holding the referendum.
“Active preparations are underway for the referendum on the draft Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, which will be held on April 30 this year, the necessary conditions are being created for citizens to exercise their political rights”, Chairman of the Central Election Commission Zayniddin Nizomkhujayev said. – On March 16 this year, at a meeting of the Central Election Commission, 14 referendum constituencies were created on the territory of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent. In accordance with the Law “On the Referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, a district commission for holding a referendum is formed by the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan no later than ten days after the announcement of the decision to call a referendum, consisting of the chairman, deputy chairman, secretary and other members of the commission. The main task of district commissions for holding a referendum is to carry out the necessary preparatory work on the territory of the district.
At a meeting of the Central Election Commission, a decision was made to establish 14 district commissions for holding a referendum, and their composition was approved.
