15:44 / 2021-10-09

In September this year, specialists of the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection and the Department of Biodiversity and Protected Natural Areas of Navoi Regional Department for Ecology and Environmental Protection, together with non-governmental non-profit organization Emirates Centre for the Conservation of Houbara (ECCH), released 1,070 bustards grown in the center into the desert zones of Tamdin, Uchkuduk and Kanimekh districts of Navoi region.

The center is located 50 kilometers from the city of Navoi and covers an area of 300 hectares. It was created in April 2008 at the initiative of the Vice-President of the United Arab Emirates, the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The main tasks of the center are to increase the population, preserve Central Asian bustards in Uzbekistan, and carry out a set of measures to release them into the wild.

Now bustards can live in the wild, find food for themselves and defend themselves from predators.
