Chinara (plane tree) is a perennial tree. Science has proven that the plane tree can live for more than a thousand years.

In Uzbekistan, there are plane trees, the age of which is estimated at 10 or more centuries.

A plane tree with a huge hollow grows in the village of Zarabog, Sherabad district, Surkhandarya region. The height of the tree exceeds 80 meters, the diameter of the trunk is more than 16 meters. According to the population of the mahalla, this tree is almost 1000 years old.

“The upper branches are gradually drying up”, Khosiyatjon Jurayev, an activist of the village said. – Probably, this is due to the age of the plane trees.

It is noteworthy that several people can accommodate in the hollow of a tree. Once upon a time, the hollow served as a library for the population, and later it was even used as an orphanage. A few years ago, the crown of the tree was huge. But it gets old, and, unfortunately, the branches dry up.

This plane tree is protected by the state. It is forbidden to cut branches.
