100 years to “Andijan Polka”

Andijan region has announced “Andijan Polka” month.

The “Andijan Polka” month is held on the initiative of the head of the regional administration Shukhratbek Abdurakhmonov on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the creation of the “Andijan Polka” national dance and the 65th anniversary of the “Andijon Polkasi” folk ensemble to increase the popularity of this dance art.

The dance, created by the famous musician, People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Orif Toshmatov (accordion) in the 20s of the last century, became known and popular under the name “Andijan Polka”. 

“The “Andijan Polka” month is organized to widely promote this dance, fill its performance with even more content, increase its popularity”, says the head of the Department of Culture of Andijan region Markhabokhon Sattorova. – The events held as part of the month will serve to strengthen the feeling of patriotism among young people and increase respect for national values.

During the “Andijan Polka” month, various meetings, competitions for the performance of this dance in labor collectives and educational institutions are being held. Challenges, flash mobs are organized in public transport, markets, bus and railway stations, parks of culture and recreation to increase the popularity of this dance.
