Uzbekistan and Japan expand cooperation
The Uzbekistan – Japanese Environmental Business Forum titled “Promoting Sustainable Growth through Bilateral Cooperation in Uzbekistan” was held in Tashkent. The event aimed to develop a partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan in the fields of environmental protection, sustainable infrastructure, and green technologies.
During the forum, participants were presented with Uzbekistan’s experience and approaches in environmental protection, as well as Japan’s initiatives to develop international environmental cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to Uzbekistan’s investment potential, business opportunities, and prospects for expanding partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan in this area.
According to specialists, cooperation with Japan, a leading country in environmental technologies, is especially important for Uzbekistan.
During the event, representatives of government institutions and companies from both countries presented projects and technological solutions in the main agenda areas.
Issues related to air quality monitoring, water resource management, the development of a modern waste management system, and the implementation of climate change initiatives were discussed.
“At one time, economic development and industrialization in Japan had a negative impact on the country’s environment, but we were able to address this problem gradually”, said Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of the Environment of Japan Doi Kentaro. “Today, the processes of industrialization and development are actively taking place in Uzbekistan, and this may have a certain impact on the environment. Our cooperation is aimed precisely at mitigating such negative effects, and the forum serves as an important bridge in this direction”.
As part of the forum, bilateral meetings were held between the Uzbekistan delegation and representatives of Japanese companies to establish direct cooperation, discuss joint projects, and expand business relations.
