The Authorized person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman), Feruza Eshmatova, met with a Representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Omer Fisher.

The activities carried out in Uzbekistan in human rights protection, changes in legislation in this area, the role and importance of the Ombudsman institution in this process, activity areas, and cooperation issues were discussed at the meeting. The parties exchanged views on initiatives to increase knowledge about human rights and develop legal culture among the population.

Omer Fisher highly appreciated the efforts to ensure human rights in Uzbekistan and noted that he is ready to strengthen cooperation.
