On April 7, as part of the program of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, led by the Chairman of the Senate, Yousaf Raza Gilani.

The distinguished guest conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the Leader of Uzbekistan.

The parties expressed deep satisfaction with the growing momentum in developing a strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

The volume of mutual trade, the number of joint ventures, and the frequency of direct flights between the two countries are all continuing to grow. Business forums and exhibitions involving leading companies from both Uzbekistan and Pakistan are held regularly.

Special attention was given to strengthening the role of parliaments in ensuring the effective implementation of agreements reached during the recent historic high-level visit to Uzbekistan.

The importance of accelerating priority projects and programs in trade, economics, investment, and transport was emphasized, including the advancement of the construction of the Trans-Afghan Corridor. The parties also stressed the importance of expanding interregional cooperation and humanitarian exchange.
