The 34th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence is widely celebrated in Russia as well
These days, the most significant and cherished holiday – the 34th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence – is being celebrated on a large scale not only in the country, but also in various parts of the world.
In particular, the Agency for Migration under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Saint Petersburg, Russia, organized a festive event for a group of our compatriots working at enterprises in Kingisepp district of Leningrad region.
Our journey to Leningrad region passed through Saint Petersburg, which greeted us with a calm wind from the Neva, majestic architectural monuments fading into the dense fog, and the mysterious glow of night lights. It is no coincidence that Saint Petersburg is called the city of bridges – today they connect not only the banks of the river, but also the hearts of people separated by hundreds of kilometers...
Wherever fate may take a person, he always returns in his thoughts to his native land, familiar streets, and close ones. The hardships of life abroad, the feeling of longing for the Motherland, can truly be understood only by those who themselves have experienced life far from home. What a person feels when he has not seen his loved ones for years, when he longs for his native soil and the warmth of the sun, is known to him alone.
At such moments, our compatriots especially need moral support, attention, and care from the state. That is why today, under the leadership of the President, large-scale measures are being taken to provide comprehensive support to our compatriots living and working abroad, to protect their rights and interests, and to identify and resolve their problems. A vivid manifestation of this care was the festive event held in Leningrad region.
“Today, there is a festive atmosphere in Uzbekistan. To share it with our compatriots abroad, with the support of diplomatic missions, we are holding Independence Day celebrations in Russia, the Republic of Korea, Türkiye, and other countries. It is simply impossible to put into words the atmosphere of the festivities and the sincere joy experienced by our compatriots. We are happy to make our contribution to this noble cause”, said Elyor Toshtemirov, Head of Department of the Migration Agency.
The festive event, held under the motto “For the Motherland, for the Nation, for the People!”, began with football and table tennis competitions. And although the teams fought with full dedication, on this day there were no losers – friendship won.
“I have been working in Russia for two years”, said Eldorbek Ergashev from Namangan. “All the teams showed good preparation and a high level of play. We are far from our Motherland and our families, but we do not feel alone. We constantly feel the care and attention of the state. Just recently, we listened with great inspiration to the President’s speech at the Independence Day celebration. The words of our Head of State gave us new strength and energy, and today’s holiday allowed us, even if just for a moment, to feel at home. I express my deep gratitude to all the organizers”.
After the sports program, a festive table was set, and guests were served the traditional Uzbek dish – pilaf. A grand concert took place, featuring famous artists who had traveled from Uzbekistan. National songs were performed, glorifying love for the Motherland, peace, independence, and a prosperous life.
“I have been working here for more than two years. All the necessary conditions have been created for us, and representatives of the Migration Agency regularly visit us, showing interest in our lives. Today, the entire world is discussing the rapid development of Uzbekistan. In light of the ongoing transformations, we are filled with a sense of joy and pride. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to organizing such a wonderful festive event for us”, said Jurabek Yusupov from Khorezm region.
At the conclusion of the event, medals and cups were awarded to the winners and prizewinners of the sports competitions. Certificates of appreciation were also presented to participants who made active contributions to the organization of the celebration.
