The traditional Samarkand Marathon 2025 has kicked off in Samarkand.

This year’s competitions, held within the framework of the 43rd Session of the UNESCO General Conference, began with the Kids Run for children aged 3 to 11. Young marathon runners will compete at distances of 60, 300, 600, and 1000 meters.

It is expected that over 9,000 people from more than 50 countries, including conference participants, will take part in the main marathon competitions on November 9. The participants will compete at distances of 5, 10, 21.1, and 42.2 kilometers.

At a distance of 42.2 kilometers, the first-place holders will receive 30 million UZS, the second-place holders – 25 million UZS, and the third-place holders – 20 million UZS.

Races among participants of different age categories and people with disabilities will also be organized.
