
As part of the program of the first “Central Asia – European Union” summit, on April 3, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held talks with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan expressed deep satisfaction with the historic outcome of the high-level trilateral meeting held in the city of Khujand on March 31 this year.
It was emphasized that the full resolution of border issues opens a new chapter in the development of regional cooperation.
Current issues related to further strengthening friendship, good neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were thoroughly discussed.
Particular attention was given to the practical implementation of high-level agreements.
The importance of developing concrete measures to increase trade turnover and accelerate cooperation projects was emphasized, particularly in light of the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission scheduled for this month.
The leaders also exchanged views on the regional agenda and the preparation of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events.
