
The President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who arrived in Uzbekistan to take part in the first “Central Asia – European Union” summit, visited the Ulugbek Observatory and Museum in Samarkand, accompanied by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.
The distinguished guests were presented with information about the life and work of Mirzo Ulugbek, the great ruler, statesman, and astronomer.
Particular interest was shown in the preserved part of the 15th-century observatory, rare museum exhibits, and the valuable historical insights provided.
Currently, the leaders of European institutions are continuing their visits to other historical and cultural landmarks of the city.
