The 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union is currently underway in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. On the sidelines of the forum, a correspondent from UzA spoke with Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, Member of the Parliament of Ghana, who praised the significance of the event and Uzbekistan’s role as host:

“Everything is moving in a very unique yet inspiring direction, and I feel genuine excitement and joy about what is happening. We have gathered here not just as representatives of different countries and cultures, but as like-minded individuals united by a common goal – our pursuit of justice, development, and prosperity. It is mainly symbolic that the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly is being held in Uzbekistan – a country that today exemplifies openness to the world, a commitment to reform, and readiness to serve as an active platform for international dialogue. This is a crucial step toward strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, promoting mutual understanding among nations, and establishing sustainable global partnerships.

The fact that we can freely express our views, engage in meaningful discussions, and collaborate in an environment of genuine democratic freedom is, in itself, an achievement – and a testament to the idea that positive change is possible when we join forces, believe in a shared future, and act together. Such international platforms are not only an opportunity to present our own experiences, but also a chance to truly hear one another and learn how to build mutual trust.

The Parliament of Ghana places particular importance on promoting democracy, gender equality, sustainable development, and youth empowerment – and these topics are receiving strong and sincere attention here at the assembly. The future we are shaping together is bright, dynamic, and full of opportunities. It belongs not only to us, but to future generations. That is why it is so essential to preserve the spirit of solidarity, support one another, and strengthen our belief in the power of unity”.
