The 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly has assumed historic significance as a pivotal stage in shaping new approaches, fostering dialogue, and promoting solidarity in global politics for the international community.
Held under the motto “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights”, this prestigious gathering saw world leaders present their views in search of new solutions to the universal challenges facing humanity.
The address delivered by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev from this rostrum is being recognized as a significant political signal not only for Uzbekistan but also for the entire Central Asian region and the global community.
The Head of State, in his address, emphasized that the influence of international institutions is weakening and stressed the need to transform the UN Security Council by expanding its membership. This proposal is viewed as a crucial step toward ensuring fairness and effectiveness in the global decision-making process.
In his speech, the President placed special emphasis on the reforms being carried out in areas such as poverty reduction, education and healthcare development, green energy, and infrastructure modernization. Additionally, he advanced initiatives to organize an international summit for educators and to transform the women’s forum into a permanent platform.
The necessity of strengthening integration among the Central Asian states in the areas of trade, investment, transport, and infrastructure was underscored. In particular, the proposal to establish international transport and energy corridors through Afghanistan is expected to further enhance the region’s economic and geopolitical significance.
The urgency and global importance of the initiatives put forward by Shavkat Mirziyoyev lie in the fact that the UN can adequately respond to contemporary challenges only by expanding the composition of the Security Council and making its decision-making processes more transparent.
The large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan – reducing poverty, expanding access to education, and increasing investment in green energy – serve not only as a foundation for national development but also as a contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals on a global scale.
Regional integration processes are being regarded as a key driver of stability and progress. The opening of transit routes through Afghanistan could potentially transform the region into a central hub of the global economic system.
Strengthening the role of women in society, along with a focus on equality and justice, has been identified as one of the most essential prerequisites for sustainable development for the international community.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s address from the UN rostrum is being assessed as a strategic call for regional and global stability, peace, and justice. If the proposed initiatives are implemented, they will contribute not only to ensuring peace, justice, and sustainable development in Central Asia, but also globally.
