During a working trip to Dushanbe, the Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) Javlon Vakhabov met with the Director of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan (CSR) Khayriddin Usmonzoda.

The parties highly appreciated the friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, stressing that their further development is of mutual interest. In this vein, Mr.Usmonzoda called the policy of the leaders of the fraternal countries the main factor in the development and strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation.

At the meeting, emphasis was also placed on the importance of building comprehensive interaction between the countries’ expert and analytical communities. In particular, special attention was paid to holding a conference by IICA and CSR in Dushanbe, with the participation of representatives of leading research and analytical structures of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

It was noted that the relevance of this event is conditioned by the need to “check the clock” on key issues on the Uzbekistan – Tajikistan agenda and identify new areas of partnership.

Following the meeting, the heads of the analytical centers signed the IICA and CSR Action Plan for 2024, which provides for the organization of mutual visits, the participation of experts in international conferences organized by the two countries’ analytical centers, and the holding of bilateral consultations regularly on the eve of meetings and negotiations at the highest levels, thereby confirming their readiness to further deepen research cooperation.
