Tashkent International Fashion Academy to be established
A presidential resolution “On the establishment of the Tashkent International Fashion Academy” has been adopted.
Under the resolution, the Tashkent International Fashion Academy will operate as a state higher education institution under the Agency for the Development of Light Industry.
The Academy will be established based on the joint educational program launched by the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry in cooperation with the Paris International Fashion Academy.
All students currently enrolled in the joint educational program will continue their studies at the Academy, and graduates will receive Academy-issued diplomas.
Classes will start in the 2026/2027 academic year, and student admissions will follow the standard procedures set out in current legislation.
Alongside joint educational programs, the Academy will also be authorized to offer its own bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Beginning in the 2027/2028 academic year, a dual education system will be introduced to train specialists for the textile, garment, knitwear, leather, and footwear industries, based on requests from enterprises and organizations.
The Academy will also design clothing for various organizations and services under government contracts and help establish national brands.
Starting in the 2027/2028 academic year, graduates of technical colleges that train personnel for the light industry sector may continue their studies in the third year of a bachelor’s degree program on a tuition-paying basis, provided they have completed their studies and achieved a grade point average at or above the threshold set by the Academy.
Foreign specialists and administrative staff recruited by the Academy, their family members, and international students admitted to the Academy will be provided with multiple-entry visas, including extensions, and with registration at their place of residence, including extensions of such registration, in accordance with established procedures and upon the Academy’s request.
The action plan approved by the resolution provides for the construction and commissioning of a 400-bed student dormitory for the Academy under a public-private partnership by the end of 2028. Until then, students transferring from the Institute to the Academy will be permitted to use the Institute’s student housing facilities in accordance with established procedures.
