A roundtable discussion on “SCO in Action: Initiatives of New Uzbekistan” was held at the National University of Uzbekistan.

The event was organized by the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan with the support of the university. It brought together representatives from more than 20 governmental and non-governmental organizations, including members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, deputies of the Legislative Chamber, officials from ministries and agencies, over 10 professors and lecturers, scholars, students, and members of the wider public.

Opening the roundtable, moderator and Director of the Center, Kabuljon Sabirov, briefly outlined the essence of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s essential initiatives aimed at strengthening the political foundations of the SCO and expanding multilateral cooperation. He noted that these initiatives are a logical continuation of the ideas expressed at previous summits, and emphasized the need for discussion and joint efforts to implement them.

In her online video address,  SCO Deputy Secretary General Piao Yangfan emphasized that the initiatives put forward by the Leader of Uzbekistan are essential for the institutional development of the SCO and fully correspond to the principles of the “Shanghai Spirit”, as they equally serve the interests of all member states.

During the discussion, it was once again stressed that deepening cultural ties and strengthening the institution of public diplomacy are key factors for long-term partnership within the SCO. Proposals by the Head of State on expanding cooperation in the cultural sphere were also presented.

Following the event, it was unanimously recognized that the Tianjin summit once again demonstrated Uzbekistan’s active stance on regional and global issues, while the broad international support for these initiatives testifies to the country’s growing authority. Furthermore, the multifaceted initiatives aimed at addressing regional and global challenges serve the interests not only of Uzbekistan but of all SCO members.
