Greening levels have risen
As part of the nationwide “Yashil Makon” project, up to 200 million seedlings are planted each year.
Parks under the “New Uzbekistan” initiative have been created across 47 areas, and 256,000 hectares of mountainous and desert zones have been greened. On the dried seabed of the Aral Sea, green plantations have been established on two million hectares. To prevent the negative effects of wind and dust erosion, a 60-kilometer “green belt” has been created in 33 districts.
Last year, modern nurseries were established in Khojayli, Yangibazar, Gijduvan, Baliqchi, and Akhangaran districts, capable of producing up to 5.5 million ornamental seedlings annually.
For the first time this year, drawing on Chinese experience, drought-resistant halophyte gardens were established on 50 hectares across the Arnasay, Karakul, Mubarek, Karmana, and Nukus districts.
Within a short period, the level of greening in the country increased from 8 to 14.2 percent, and it is planned to reach 30 percent by 2030.
