XIV Winter Paralympic Games begin
Yesterday, the opening ceremony of the XIV Winter Paralympic Games was held at the Verona Arena in Italy.
At these Winter Paralympic Games, which are being held in Italy for the second time, about 650 determined athletes from 50 countries will compete for victory.
The opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by the Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee of Uzbekistan, Mukhtorkhon Tashkhodjayev.
Two of Uzbekistan’s athletes who successfully passed the qualification stages and secured berths for the Paralympic Games – members of the national para-alpine skiing team, Yulduz Makhmudova and Firdavs Khidoyatov – will take part in the competitions.
At the XIV Winter Paralympic Games, which will run until March 15, athletes will compete for prizes in six sports, with 79 sets of medals contested.
