Uzbekistan takes part in discussions on international standards for the halal economy

Representatives of the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation attended the 21st General Assembly of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), held in Kazan.

Discussions focused on developing the halal products market and expanding international cooperation.

During the meeting, participants discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation among SMIIC member states in standardization, metrology, conformity assessment and accreditation.

Participants paid particular attention to harmonizing international standards and developing common approaches to the production and certification of halal products and services. They also reviewed the organization’s activities and identified priorities for its future work.
