Uzbekistan ranks first in Central Asia in readiness for artificial intelligence
An international conference on “Artificial intelligence technologies: legislation, scientific research and prospects for international cooperation” was held in cooperation with the Committee on Innovative Development and Information Technologies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and the Ministry of Digital Technologies.
At the conference, pressing issues related to the development of legislation in the field of artificial intelligence were discussed, and mechanisms to support scientific research and innovative development were reviewed.
As noted, in Uzbekistan, the development of artificial intelligence technologies is also regarded as a priority direction of state policy. Relevant measures are being taken to create the necessary conditions for the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into the public administration system.

In particular, by the relevant resolution of the President, the Artificial Intelligence Development Strategy 2030 was approved, and priority areas for the widespread introduction of artificial intelligence into the economy and social sectors were defined. A separate center working in this field was established within the Ministry of Digital Technologies. As a result, within one year, the country rose by 17 positions in the international index of readiness for artificial intelligence and ranked first in Central Asia.
The Law “On introducing amendments and addenda to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the regulation of relations arising from the use of artificial intelligence”, adopted on January 21, 2026, has become an important legal document aimed at further developing artificial intelligence technologies.

During the conference, views were exchanged on the legal framework for the use of artificial intelligence technologies, on integrating AI into lawmaking activities, and on the role of artificial intelligence in transforming modern science.
During the discussions, proposals were put forward to improve legislation in the field of artificial intelligence, to explore the possibilities of applying artificial intelligence technologies to lawmaking activities, to develop scientific infrastructure, and to strengthen international cooperation.
