Uzbekistan and the United States sign Artemis Accords
Today in Samarkand, following bilateral talks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed the Artemis Accords, which set principles for international cooperation in the peaceful exploration and use of the Moon, Mars, comets, and asteroids.
The signing opens up new opportunities for Uzbekistan to expand cooperation with NASA and the space agencies of other participating countries, train national specialists and facilitate the transfer of space technologies.
Uzbekistan became the 77th country to sign the Artemis Accords.

Bakhtiyor Saidov and Marco Rubio also visited the exhibition “Uzbekistan and the United States: A Shared History Across Centuries and Continents”, organized as part of the C5+1 ministerial meeting.

“Highlighting the rich history of scientific and cultural ties between our peoples, the exhibition featured the scientific legacy of Ahmad al-Farghani, Edgar Allan Poe’s collection of poems dedicated to Amir Temur, works by American travelers about our country, and other invaluable examples of shared heritage. Materials related to the Tashkent – Seattle sister-city partnership, established in 1973, once again demonstrated the deep historical roots of friendship between our peoples. A deeper study and broader promotion of our shared history will strengthen mutual understanding between our peoples and open new opportunities for cooperation in science and culture”, Mr. Saidov noted.
