Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan deepen their friendship

AZERTAC, Azerbaijan’s leading news agency, has reported on the outcomes of President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Uzbekistan.

Following the talks at the highest level, a ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an agreement on eternal friendship.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan Rashad Mammadov and Chairman of the Customs Committee Akmalkhuja Mavlonov signed a memorandum on exchanging experience and cooperating in cynology between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Ambassador Rashad Mammadov and the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Akkulov signed a Cooperation Agreement in the tourism sector between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Adil Kerimli and the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov signed a Cooperation Agreement in culture between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Minister of the Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov and the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov signed a program to increase trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to $1 billion by 2030 and a practical action plan to implement agreements reached in investment and trade.

Cooperation Agreement between governments in pension provision, the Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2027-2028, and the Cooperation Program for 2027-2028 between the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan were also approved.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov exchanged protocols on establishing twinning relations between Urgench and Khankendi, Bukhara and Lachin, Urgench and Nakhchivan.

All these documents, conditionally, aim to strengthen bilateral relations.
