The cotton harvest has begun in Namangan

For the 2026 harvest, 48,800 hectares of land in the Namangan region were sown with cotton seeds, and the crops were cultivated according to agrotechnical standards. By the end of the season, it is planned to produce 254,500 tons of raw cotton, with an average yield of 52.2 centners per hectare.

As an important economic resource in the country's agriculture, cotton has become a value closely intertwined with the centuries-old culture of labor, farming experience, and the way of life of our people.

Consequently, modernizing the sector, increasing labor productivity, widely implementing new technologies, and providing farmers with high-efficiency machinery are now being prioritized as a matter of state policy.

These days, a critical stage of the new season is beginning in the cotton fields. To ensure a timely and high-quality harvest, 856 harvesting teams have been organized in the region. During the season, it is planned to gather 70 percent of the crop using harvesting machines. For this purpose, 178 cotton harvesting units will be deployed. Notably, 57 new cotton harvesting machines were purchased for the region this year.

Devotees of the industry, elders, heads of regional law enforcement agencies, district khokims, and leaders of relevant organizations attended the regional demonstration seminar-meeting on the topic "Harvesting raw cotton grown for the 2026 harvest without loss and conducting the cotton harvest season in an organized manner," held at the field camp of the "Elita urug'chilik" farm in Mingbulak district.

The conference discussed issues of ensuring a high-quality cotton harvest, organizing the picking within established deadlines, adhering to safety regulations during the labor process, and conducting the season in an orderly fashion. Furthermore, specific measures were defined for gathering this year's harvest in the shortest possible time.

The Khokim of Namangan region, Shavkat Abdurazzoqov, assigned relevant instructions and tasks to the officials in charge regarding the high-level organization of the "White Gold" season, the gathering of raw cotton from the fields, the creation of decent working conditions for pickers, and ensuring the full implementation of the established plans.

Additionally, at the event, an animal was sacrificed and a table was set for a charitable meal. Hands were raised in prayer, asking for blessings upon the arduous labor of the dehqans and farmers and for abundance on our country's dastarkhan, and an "oq fotiha" (white blessing) was given for the cotton harvest season.
