Tanzila Narbayeva: “Young people are not observers of global processes, but a force capable of influencing them”
The 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union is ongoing in Samarkand.
Following the reading of the message from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva gave a welcoming speech.
“The ideas and initiatives outlined in the President’s message once again demonstrated the Head of State’s firm commitment to supporting young people, enhancing their political and social engagement, and developing parliamentary diplomacy”, said Ms. Narbayeva. “I am confident that this address will provide important political guidance for our conference discussions. Today, young politicians, parliamentarians, and representatives of international organizations from different regions of the world have gathered here. This clearly demonstrates that young people are not mere observers of global processes but a force capable of influencing them”.
The Senate Chairperson emphasized that during these challenging times, fostering trust and dialogue is more crucial than ever. Parliamentary diplomacy should maintain open communication channels, and young parliamentarians are encouraged to propose innovative ideas, bold solutions, and take responsibility for shaping the future.
“Armed conflicts prevent young people from living safely, while economic struggles hinder their access to education and decent jobs. Digital and climate risks also directly threaten their present and future. Yet, we are here not just to list problems but to create concrete solutions. The key question is: how can parliaments turn human rights and justice into real, tangible benefits that affect people’s daily lives? Human dignity isn’t just a legal or international principle. It is seen in a young person’s ability to get an education, find work, live securely, express opinions freely, and take part in public decisions. It’s not enough to listen to young voices. We must work with them to make the necessary decisions”, Tanzila Narbayeva concluded.
