Promotion of Kurash and Turon martial arts discussed in the United States
A meeting took place at the World Trade Center in New York to explore the development and international promotion of Uzbekistan’s national sports, kurash and the Turon martial art.
The participants considered enhancing collaboration, sharing knowledge and experience, and exploring the inclusion of kurash and the Turon martial art in high-profile international multi-sport events and the Olympic Games system.

The discussion was attended by Ziyoviddin Khojiniyazov, Acting President of the International Kurash Association, Daniel Abayev, IKA Sports Committee member, Farrukh Niyazimbetov, President of the International Turon Federation, members of the Federation’s Executive Council, lawyers and specialists.

The significance of the large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan, driven by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s New Uzbekistan Strategy and efforts to promote national sports, was highlighted. Special focus was given to the favorable agreements on incorporating kurash into the Central American and Caribbean Games program.
The International Kurash Association and the International Turon Federation signed a Memorandum of Understanding. They proposed hosting the first joint international events in Manhattan in October to promote these combat sports.
