Press conference on tourism reforms held in Tashkent
A press conference was held in Tashkent, with the participation of Abdulaziz Akkulov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during which the results of ongoing reforms and key areas for developing the country’s tourism industry were presented.
The event was organized by the Tourism Committee in collaboration with the State Enterprise National PR Center and was dedicated to implementing the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of April 30, 2026.
Representatives of relevant agencies, domestic and foreign media, the blogging community, and entrepreneurs in the tourism sector attended the discussion.

“This resolution by the Head of our State is of great importance, as it aims to develop the tourism sector using modern management methods and to increase the economic potential of the regions”, Mr. Akkulov emphasized.
Over the past four months, Uzbekistan has welcomed 4 million foreign tourists, 30% more than the same period last year.
The volume of tourism service exports reached $1.6 billion, representing a 40% increase.
Steady growth is being recorded in tourist flows from key partner countries: China – 3.5 times, Japan – 1.6 times, Malaysia – 2.2 times, the United States – 1.4 times, and France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Türkiye, and Germany – by an average of 20%.

As part of the state policy to develop the industry, active efforts to create new jobs continue. In 2026-2027, 24,000 new jobs are planned, and another 16,000 are expected to be legalized, together providing about 40,000 jobs in the tourism sector.
In addition, the number of accommodation facilities is planned to increase to 8,250.
Special attention is being paid to developing regional tourism infrastructure. In accordance with the resolution, an additional 450 billion UZS will be allocated for these purposes. The funds will be used for the construction and repair of roads of tourist importance, the modernization of utility networks, the improvement of public spaces, and the development of tourist zones.
