Memorandum signed between the human rights institutions of Uzbekistan and China
On May 14, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the China Foundation for Human Rights Development. The document was signed by the heads of these organizations – Akmal Saidov and Li Hongkui.
The event took place as part of the China – Central Asia Forum on Human Rights Development, which is being held in Tashkent and organized by the China Foundation for Human Rights Development (CFHRD) jointly with the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Under the document, the parties will cooperate to promote and protect human rights based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and mutual interest.

In particular, the Memorandum provides for conducting joint research on human rights issues, implementing educational programs and disseminating knowledge in this area, developing mutually beneficial information exchange, organizing joint scientific seminars and conferences, facilitating the fulfillment of the two countries’ international obligations in the field of human rights, and participating in the improvement of global governance in this area.
The document also defines the forms of practical cooperation between the parties. In particular, this includes the exchange of information, legislative acts, analytical materials, and specialized literature on promoting and protecting human rights, as well as the exchange of experience in fulfilling international obligations.
