Measures have been defined to ensure the dignified observance of the Day of Remembrance and Honor, military training, and support for servicemen
The President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was briefed on measures to provide social support for servicemen, to improve the system for training reserve and standby officers, and on preparations for May 9 – the Day of Remembrance and Honor.
First of all, a report was presented on the work underway to enhance the army’s combat readiness and training and to introduce a new system of education and professional personnel training.
In particular, it was noted that, to maintain combat readiness, comprehensive strategic and command-staff exercises, training camps, field deployments, and training courses are conducted regularly for troops. Special attention is paid to developing essential combat qualities in personnel, such as moral and psychological resilience, the ability to control fear and emotions in real combat situations, and the capacity to act decisively.

It was reported that, based on an analysis of modern combat operations, new methods and forms of warfare are being mastered in all exercises, training, and classes. Appropriate measures are also being taken to enhance units’ mobility, combat capabilities, and ability to carry out assigned tasks independently.
The nationwide celebration in the country of May 9 – the Day of Remembrance and Honor – as a nationwide holiday is a practical embodiment of the policy pursued in Uzbekistan to preserve peace, strengthen independence, perpetuate the memory of those who fell for the freedom of the Motherland, and show care for living war and labor veterans.
On the occasion of this year’s holiday, it has been proposed to provide each participant and each disabled World War II veteran with a one-time monetary payment of 30 million UZS.
In addition, on this day, special attention and honor will be paid to war participants, labor front veterans, the older generation, and mentors. The living conditions of single and low-income veterans will be improved, and various commemorative and ceremonial events will be held. The memory of the devoted sons of the Motherland who died in the line of duty during the years of independence will also be perpetuated. Their families will be provided with material and moral support.

Spiritual, educational, and patriotic events are planned to honor the courage and bravery of servicemen who gave their lives in the name of peace and tranquility for our Motherland. Across the country, under the slogan “Duty, Courage, Resilience!”, cultural and educational events, meetings of three generations, creative evenings, competitions, and mass sports events will be organized.
Additional measures to elevate the system for training reserve and standby officers to a new level were considered. As noted, an analysis of ongoing military conflicts around the world shows that, given wartime mobilization needs, one of the urgent tasks is to build a trained officer reserve in peacetime and distribute it appropriately across military specialties.
Currently, reserve and standby officers are trained at military training centers and at the faculties of 4 civilian and 2 higher military educational institutions across 42 specialties. In addition, it has been proposed to establish 5 more military training centers at Urgench State University, Termez State University, Andijan State University, Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service, and Andijan State Medical Institute.
At the same time, a system for training reserve and standby officers will be introduced in state higher educational institutions through a three-year bachelor’s program in the field of “Pre-conscription Military Education”. At the Military Medical Institute, for the first time, fee-based training will be offered to students admitted to clinical residency and master’s programs who have expressed a desire to undergo military training. This opportunity will also be available to students at non-state higher educational institutions.
Training for reserve officers in modern, highly specialized fields in high demand today, such as artificial intelligence, drones, and robotics, will also be established. For military training units, new curricula and programs will be developed based on the experience of advanced foreign armies.
Particular attention was paid to the social protection of servicemen. At the January 13 meeting of the Security Council, held under the chairmanship of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, this topic was identified as a priority.
In particular, it was proposed to double the monthly service bonus for officers of the Ministry of Defense and to increase the monetary allowances for privates and sergeants serving under contract by 10 percent.
The President supported the proposals, emphasizing that their implementation would strengthen social protection for servicemen and their family members and enhance the prestige and attractiveness of military service. As a result, the relevant acts were signed.
