Individual tourism development strategies are being prepared for 35 districts and cities in Uzbekistan
Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee, S. Bobokalonov, met with Peter Ellis, Practice Manager for Urban Development, Resilience and Land Unit in the Europe and Central Asia Region at the World Bank.
At the meeting, large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector were presented in detail, along with the favorable conditions being created to develop modern tourism infrastructure. The parties separately noted efforts to turn tourism into one of the key drivers of the country’s economy.

During the talks, representatives of the World Bank presented the organization’s priority areas of activity and major projects implemented in various countries.

It was also noted that 35 districts and cities with high tourism potential have been selected in Uzbekistan, and a strategic development program through 2050 is being prepared with the participation of World Bank experts. The program includes priorities such as developing tourism infrastructure, increasing employment, diversifying the economy, and creating jobs.

Following the meeting, the parties emphasized that this cooperation will contribute to the more effective use of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential, the sustainable development of regions, and the improvement of people’s well-being.
