Hungary through the eyes of photographers from the Turkic World
From August 12 to 22, Hungary hosted the 20th TURKSOY Photographers’ Gathering along with various cultural events. These activities aimed to strengthen cultural cooperation among Turkic nations and promote their shared history and cultural heritage more broadly.
The international creative initiative united 13 professional photographers from various countries and regions of the Turkic world.
During the photo tour, participants explored different parts of Hungary, learning about its rich history, cultural heritage, and traditions. They also experienced contemporary life and the country’s unique natural landscapes. Using their cameras, they captured their impressions and experiences, offering a diverse and creative portrayal of Hungary.
A major highlight of the gathering was the Great Hun-Turkic Kurultai. Photographers documented horseback games, traditional costumes, customs, rituals, cultural performances, and the values unique to Turkic peoples. Their images conveyed the event's distinctive atmosphere, national identity, and festive mood.
Renowned photographer and member of the Artists’ Union of Uzbekistan, Rustam Sharipov, represented Uzbekistan in the international creative project. This participation offered a valuable chance to share creative expertise, build new professional connections with international peers, and promote cultural dialogue between countries through art.
Following the photo tour, an exhibition of selected works was held. The exhibition featured photographs of Hungary’s historical monuments and landmarks, natural landscapes, national traditions and values, and the everyday life of local people.
The international creative project helped showcase the shared history and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples. It enhanced creative dialogue and facilitated the exchange of experiences among photographers, while also promoting cultural heritage through modern artistic expressions.
