Goodbye Tokyo, Hello Paris!
Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have ended. Uzbekistan’s athletes also fought for medals along with representatives of 206 delegations.
There were victories that we enjoyed, and also bitter defeats and losses. This is a sport, defeat and victory are always one step apart. This must be understood correctly. The main thing is that Uzbekistan’s athletes fought to the last, defending the honor of the country. At the Olympic Games, Uzbekistan delegation won 3 gold and 2 bronze medals and took 32nd place among 206 countries in the team standings. Uzbekistan became the fifth among Asian countries, after such world sports powers as China, Japan, South Korea and Iran, took second place among the CIS countries after the Russian Olympic Committee, the first place among the Turkish Speaking States and the first place in Central Asia. Undoubtedly, such a result will be a worthy gift for New Uzbekistan, as well as for the 30th Anniversary of the country’s independence.
A lot can be said about the participation of each of Uzbekistan’s athletes at the Tokyo Olympics. In particular, the record holder Akbar Jurayev, the youngest Olympic champion in the history of independent Uzbekistan Ulugbek Rashitov, flag bearer Bakhodir Jalolov, Uzbek judo star Davlat Bobonov, freestyle wrestler Bekzod Abdurakhmanov. Everyone is talking about their victory today. It is also worth noting the participation of our athletes, such as Oksana Chusovitina, Muattar Nabiyeva, Safina Sadullayeva, Tursunoy Rakhimova, Olga Zabelinskaya, Nikita Rafalovich, Dilnoza Rakhmatova, Zaynab Daybekova, who fought for victory with the strongest athletes of the world, striking everyone with their courage.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has always paid great attention to the development of the sports sector, created all the necessary conditions for athletes. Our current achievements at the Tokyo Olympics are the result of the attention, care and support of the Head of State.
Tokyo is hosting the closing ceremony of the 2020 Olympic Games. 3 years later, at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Uzbekistan’s athletes will continue their performances. Our young athletes have proven this at the Tokyo Olympics. Thank you Tokyo for the unforgettable moments, welcome our new victories, Paris!
According to the National Olympic Committee, Uzbekistan delegation, which took part in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, will arrive in Tashkent on a charter flight on August 9 at 20:00.
