Experts from Central Asia and Europe share their experience
An international workshop was organized in Istanbul on the initiative of Lund University as part of a joint project, with the participation of the Development Strategy Center, more than 30 leading higher education institutions, think tanks, government, and non-governmental organizations from Central Asia and Europe.
Representatives of think tanks, the academic community, and experts from Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Japan, and Central Asia attended the event.
The Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center, Eldor Tulyakov, made a presentation on the role of public participation and think tanks in Uzbekistan’s reform process. He noted the importance of expanding public participation, increasing openness and accountability in public administration, and emphasized the key role of think tanks as a link between the state, society, and the expert community.

As noted, Uzbekistan’s reform process is increasingly based on an evidence-based approach, broad public participation, and a focus on concrete results. This requires further improvement of mechanisms to take public opinion into account, analyze it, and integrate it into the decision-making process. In this regard, international platforms for dialogue and exchange of experience are of particular importance.
The Head of the Center’s Department, Farrukh Hakimov, presented the reforms implemented within the framework of the Digital Uzbekistan 2030 and Uzbekistan 2030 strategies, along with their practical results.

Rustamjon Urinboyev, Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology of Law at Lund University and Chief Co-ordinator of the POLCA Project, as well as representatives of the participating organizations of the project, emphasized the relevance and importance of the joint research project and noted that scientific research, proposals, and initiatives implemented within its framework make an important contribution to the reform process.
It was noted that such international workshops contribute to the exchange of experience and the expansion of international cooperation.
During the visit, meetings were held with the Center’s permanent partners.
Following the visit, the Development Strategy Center, Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, and Biruni University signed memoranda of cooperation.
