Cooperation between Surkhandarya region and Afghanistan is developing
A business forum of entrepreneurs from Surkhandarya region and Afghanistan is being held at the Termiz International Trade Center.
The forum is attended by entrepreneurs operating in such sectors as construction, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, the food industry, carpet weaving, plastic manufacturing, transport, and logistics.
Mutual foreign trade turnover in 2024 amounted to $48 million. Last year, this figure increased nearly fivefold to $239 million. During this period, exports grew fourfold to $133 million, while imports reached $107 million.

As part of the event, Hokim of Surkhandarya region Ulugbek Kasimov met with members of the delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment Arian Azimi.

The regional head emphasized the need to develop cooperation with Afghan entrepreneurs. Opportunities for implementing joint initiatives in the construction sector, including the production of building materials, were considered. Prospects for localizing pharmaceutical production and processing agricultural products for subsequent export were also discussed.

This year, the region plans to reach $1 billion in exports of goods and services. There are favorable conditions for achieving half of this volume in cooperation with Afghanistan.
