Barnahus model to be introduced in Uzbekistan

Samarkand hosts a workshop on “Investigative interrogation of minors in the Barnahus system” in partnership with the Prosecutor General’s Office, the National Agency for Social Protection, and UNICEF Uzbekistan.

Employees from the Prosecutor’s Office, Internal Affairs, judicial offices, psychologists, experts, and specialists attended the event.

Barnahus is a child-friendly, multidisciplinary, and interagency approach designed to respond to child violence and witnesses of violence. The term comes from the Icelandic word meaning “children’s house”. Iceland introduced Barnahus in 1998.

At the event, the participants discussed the current cooperation to protect minors’ rights and interests, as well as promising areas for further development. International experts and industry specialists provided insights into the features of the new model.
