Almost four thousand creative works were submitted to the international “Oltin Qalam” competition
A briefing on the international competition for the 20th “Oltin Qalam” (Golden Pencil) National Award was held at the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan.
During the event, the application process was completed, and details about the number of submissions and the participants’ composition were shared.
This year, 3,905 creative works were submitted to the international contest, reflecting a rise of 654 submissions from the previous year. This growth suggests increasing interest and a 20.1 percent boost in creative activity. The contest attracted 607 authors, comprising 53 collective groups and 554 individual participants.
The contest attracted 1,288 entries in print media, 826 in online publications, 854 in television, 280 in radio, 210 in photojournalism, and 52 in nominations for the “Best Book in the Publicistic Genre” category.
Additionally, for the category “Best Material by a Foreign Journalist about Uzbekistan”, 86 journalists from 40 countries submitted a total of 395 creative works.
The jury is now objectively evaluating all the submitted creative works.
As a reminder, the winners and prize-winners of the international contest will be announced and awarded on June 27 at a festive event marking the Press and Mass Media Workers Day.
