Uzbekistan’s state policy on supporting women is highly praised at a forum in Türkiye
The 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union has opened in Istanbul.
A delegation of the Parliament of Uzbekistan, led by Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva, took part in the Forum of Women Parliamentarians and the 5th Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, held within the framework of the Assembly.

The forum was devoted to the theme “Escalation of conflicts and the reduction of the rights of women and girls”. Participants discussed issues of ensuring women’s rights in the context of global conflicts, as well as expanding their access to education and healthcare.
Uzbekistan confirmed its readiness to expand international cooperation in promoting women’s rights. Participants of the forum were invited to the Second Asian Women’s Forum, which will be held on May 14-15 in Bukhara.

In addition, at the 5th Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement on “The role of parliaments in ensuring climate-resilient urbanization in the region of the Non-Aligned Movement”, participants discussed issues of finding solutions to global climate challenges in the context of rapid urban development, improving legislation in this area, and ensuring effective parliamentary oversight of its implementation.

Among the priority tasks identified were the development of a modern legal framework, strengthening parliamentary oversight over the implementation of climate policy, support for the green economy, and the expansion of international cooperation.
Participants confirmed the importance of uniting the efforts of the Non-Aligned Movement’s member states to ensure climate-resilient, safe, and inclusive urbanization. Readiness was expressed to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation.
