Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan outline new priorities for strategic alliance
The International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) hosted a roundtable discussion titled “Kazakhstan in a new historical cycle: development priorities and prospects for strategic alliance with Uzbekistan”. The event was jointly organized with the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan.
The discussion focused on Kazakhstan’s development priorities outlined in President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s annual State of the Nation Address, “Kazakhstan’s current priorities in a new historical cycle”, as well as their significance for Central Asia and the prospects for bilateral cooperation.
Participants noted that implementing these priorities would create additional opportunities to deepen regional cooperation, align infrastructure projects and establish new production links among Central Asian countries.
Particular attention was paid to relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, which have reached the level of a strategic alliance.
The discussions also explored prospects for cooperation in trade and the economy, transport and logistics, energy, water management, digitalization and artificial intelligence. A separate focus was on identifying new practical mechanisms for advancing the strategic alliance, taking into account the national priorities of both countries.
The event brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, government agencies, research and analytical centers, higher education institutions, business associations and public organizations from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
