Uzbekistan and Jordan to strengthen parliamentary oversight of agreements
As part of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Parliament of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Khamis Atiyeh.
Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva emphasized that Uzbekistan regards Jordan as a key and reliable partner in the Middle East. The two countries are linked by deep historical and cultural ties, and their peoples share long-standing traditions of mutual respect.

The parties paid particular attention to opportunities to expand cooperation in trade and economic relations, science and education, and tourism. In particular, establishing direct ties between the historic cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva and Jordan’s tourist destinations could significantly increase two-way tourist flows.
First Deputy Speaker of Jordan’s House of Parliament Khamis Atiyeh praised the friendly relations established with Uzbekistan. The need to make more active use of the potential of the two countries’ legislative bodies to advance joint projects in the political, economic and educational spheres was also emphasized.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in continuing regular interparliamentary dialogue and in giving cooperation greater practical substance.
