The President of Uzbekistan meets with the head of the UN Population Fund
On May 13, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Diene Keita, who arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of UNFPA conveyed the sincere greetings and warm wishes from the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to the President of Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed current issues of cooperation with this major UN institution in the field of population development.
It was noted that in recent years, cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNFPA has reached a qualitatively new level. Important projects have been implemented in reproductive health, gender equality, and demographic sustainability. The Fund played an active role in conducting the first population and agricultural census in Uzbekistan’s history.

The sides highlighted the positive results achieved in strengthening maternal and child health, supporting young families, and protecting women’s rights and opportunities.

An agreement was reached to deepen cooperation, including implementing new joint initiatives under the country program and organizing high-level events in Uzbekistan and on UN platforms.
