The little heart of the Aral Sea
A press tour of the Sudochye Lakes was held.
The Sudochye Lakes system was formed from the channels of the Amudarya River and reservoirs, and is recognized as one of the key wetland ecosystems in Central Asia. The area is especially important as a natural habitat for migratory birds.
The participants learned about the ecological significance, biodiversity, and rich wildlife of the Sudochye-Akpetki lake system, a unique natural area in the Aral Sea region. Information was presented on the bird species found here, including flamingos, swans, pelicans, wild ducks, geese, and rare birds of prey. It was noted that in spring and autumn, thousands of migratory birds stop in this area, further enhancing its international ecological significance. Foxes, jackals, and jungle cats, along with various reptiles and rodents, inhabit the lakeside and reed areas. Carp, catfish, and other local fish species are found in the water bodies. All of them play an important role in maintaining the natural ecological balance of this area.
