Meetings in Istanbul
During the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, met with the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Tulia Ackson, and the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong.
During the meetings, the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s key role in advancing interparliamentary cooperation, promoting democratic values, and supporting sustainable development was highlighted.
It was emphasized that Uzbekistan’s engagement with the Inter-Parliamentary Union is developing rapidly and has reached a qualitatively new level.

In connection with the completion of the current leadership’s term at the Inter-Parliamentary Union this year, the parties reviewed the results of their joint work and discussed the outcomes of cooperation in key areas of parliamentary collaboration over recent years. It was noted that, thanks to ongoing reforms and initiatives, the Parliament of Uzbekistan has significantly strengthened its authority and recognition within the international community.
The parties paid special attention to preparations for the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which will be held on September 4-6 in Samarkand.

Following the negotiations, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in pursuing joint initiatives to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy.

Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, also met with the heads of parliament of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, and Bahrain. Issues of interparliamentary cooperation were discussed. The meetings underscored the importance of interparliamentary forums and parliamentary commissions as practical and effective mechanisms for bilateral relations. The parties expressed their readiness to intensify interparliamentary cooperation.
