International Chess Federation’s delegation visits Uzbekistan
In 2026, Samarkand will host the 46th World Chess Olympiad and the 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities.
Members of the delegation led by Managing Director of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), Dana Reizniece-Ozola, who visited Uzbekistan, exchanged views with officials from the Ministry of Sports and the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan on preparations for these tournaments.

Dana Reizniece-Ozola, Managing Director of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), noted that Uzbekistan is a country with great experience and potential in holding events of international importance at a high level, and expressed confidence in the successful holding of the 46th World Chess Olympiad and the 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities.
Minister of Sports A. Ikramov and Vice President of the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan, K. Sindarov, discussed the issues of organizing the welcome of participants in the 46th World Chess Olympiad and creating the necessary conditions for them.
The FIDE delegation became acquainted with the competition facilities, studied the infrastructure, communication systems, and preparation processes, and examined issues related to participants’ accommodation, transport services, and other key aspects. The relevant tasks for effectively organizing activities in each area related to the upcoming competitions were discussed.
