Household incomes and consumer spending are increasing
It is often said: if you want to understand how people live, go to the local market. Today, whichever region of Uzbekistan you visit, you can see abundance and prosperity everywhere.
In Fergana region, in January 2026 alone, the number of commercial enterprises operating in the retail trade sector reached 7,361. Of these, 151 were large enterprises, while 7,210 were small enterprises and microfirms.
According to the Fergana Regional Department of Statistics, the monthly turnover of these enterprises reached 2 trillion 704.4 billion UZS – 10.5 percent more than in January 2025.
Thanks to reforms in the region’s logistics, new shopping centers, warehouses, and wholesale trade outlets are emerging. Today, 4,306 commercial wholesale enterprises operate in Fergana region. Of these, 29 are large enterprises, while 4,277 are small enterprises and microfirms. In January of this year alone, their turnover amounted to 1 trillion 966.5 billion UZS, which is 11.9 percent more compared to the same period of 2025.
The total volume of wholesale trade turnover of small business entities reached 1 trillion 929.2 billion UZS. The growth rate compared to the same period in 2025 was 113.7 percent, and their share of the total wholesale trade volume was 98.1 percent.
As experts note, household incomes are increasing and purchasing power is growing.
