Active development of cooperation
At the invitation of Her Excellency Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, Gayane Umerova visited the Shaikh Ebrahim Bin Mohamed Al-Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, which is dedicated to preserving historical heritage and promoting cultural initiatives.
The center has restored about ten historical sites in Muharraq and Manama, previously serving as venues for lectures and cultural events, transforming them into workshops, libraries, archives, and museums.

During the visit, Ms. Gayane Umerova became familiar with the center’s activities, its experience restoring architectural monuments, and its approach to creating cultural spaces.
The Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation also met with Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.

During the discussions, special attention was given to Islamic heritage, cultural ties, and preparations for the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand. This event is expected to serve as a key platform for international cooperation in culture and heritage.
The parties also discussed organizing an international museum conference, holding joint exhibitions and concerts in Bahrain, and setting up national pavilions in Osaka, Japan. The parties expressed their commitment to continuing collaboration in these areas.

As part of the Uzbekistan delegation’s visit to Bahrain, the Shaikh Ebrahim Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research hosted a panel discussion on the role of the Jadid movement in Uzbekistan’s culture and education. Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa initiated the event.
Historians Bahrom Irzayev and Bobur Sayomov participated in the discussion, highlighting the contributions of the Jadids to madrasah reforms, the development of women’s education, and the strengthening of national identity.
Additionally, participants were introduced to Uzbekistan’s ongoing efforts to preserve the Jadid heritage, including the organization of a multimedia exhibition and other cultural projects.
