The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov has met with the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, in New York.

It was noted that in recent years, thanks to joint efforts, the Uzbekistan – American strategic partnership has significantly intensified in all areas of the bilateral and regional agenda. An intensive political dialogue is being carried out based on the principles of mutual trust and respect.

Victoria Nuland announced the support of the American side for the course of reforms and openness being implemented in Uzbekistan. Information was provided on Official Washington’s commitment to building up ties with Uzbekistan at the bilateral level and in the C5+1 format.

The U.S. Under Secretary of State welcomed the initiatives and practical steps taken by Uzbekistan to promote good neighborly relations with Central Asian countries, as well as to strengthen interregional connectivity. A high assessment was given to Uzbekistan’s actions to achieve sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan, provide large-scale humanitarian assistance to a neighboring state, and implement projects in infrastructure and energy development.

The parties exchanged views on holding events of various levels, as well as developing trade, investment, cultural and humanitarian ties.
